“Snow Globe of a Heart”
Poem by Audrey Isabelle Mabanta

I feel weird to tell you this, but maybe that’s why it’s all the more important for you to hear the words when I speak them.

In fact, we’ve already told each other in all the ways, but hold back ourselves, of all things, out of fear of falling. Whether it be us or the souvenirs out of our mouths, or the coming apart of the fantasy that is our reality.

For it to be spoken is to acknowledge the presence of our courage, the strengths of the indirection of our efforts, and the consequences of our time spent together. Whatever shape this may all be is flulid in its form yet remains as true as its love.

There is no end to imagining a world where you stand before me without your glory, I with you.

You shake my snow globe of a heart, where like the snow that never melts, I will always slowly fall for you.
