poems kumain ka na ba?
“Kumain Ka Na Ba?”Poem by Audrey Isabelle Mabanta
I’m lying down and my stomach hurt
All I ate today were pancakes, fries, and couple slices of bruschetta
I changed in front of the mirror in the bathroom
I saw the ribs under my breasts as usual
I gave the illusion I had a flat stomach
When I looked up though,
I saw the silhoutte of a skeleton in the middle of my chest
My collarbone was prominent as ever
When I saw my lola for the first time in years
And when I hugged her
I realized how much weight she lost
And how fragile she was
I wanna cry every time I remember her
Scolding me
Telling me to eat more so I don’t become liker her
And so that I don’t get sick
So I can continue my studies
And none of my family would have to worry about me
I hug my own body and lie down
Realize all I feel is skin and bone
Reminds me of my lola
