poems not so new year
“Not so New Year”Poem by Audrey Isabelle Mabanta
You’ll walk right past it
Nothing feels different from the last second
Jumping to gain new heights,
Throwing coins to bring in wealth,
Your dad arranges the thirteen round fruits
But there’s only twelve months,
Everyone sharing their new goals
Just to shit on last year’s progress.
I’ll be sitting here
Eating cheese
Greeting everyone with hugs
and kisses
Then I’ll go to sleep
Dreaming nothing of it
